Advantium-microwave-not-heating, my ge advantium microwave is not heating anything in just microwave mode. i've checked power at the fuse and it is - answered by a verified appliance technician. If the microwave still looks and sounds like it's working, but it's just not heating--that means your magnetron has likely failed. the magnetron is the part that actually creates the microwave to heat the food and it commonly goes bad and rarely gives a warning., i have a ge advantium microwave scb2000cbb03. the magnetron, diode, and the capacitor test ok with a voltmeter using suggested tests. the keyboard functions all work properly as does the speed bake (halogen)..
Hi @mattcall , here’s a link to the circuit diagram for your model oven taken from the service manual i suggest that you check the switches and sensors connected to the control board to ensure that they are all ok. take heed of the note in the manual about disconnecting the power when testing - ge microwave oven, if the magnetron is not drawing energy, it also means the high voltage capacitor could remain charged for a long time, which makes the microwave especially dangerous. if your microwave isn’t heating, it’s worth calling a licensed repair technician..
A fantastic tech post from brother in the craft, binthere222: in my case, i have found the easy solution to the numerous dead advantium posts i have seen. this seems to occur with amazing frequency, when power is available, but nothing comes on at all. ge sure doesnt make it cheap to fix and it s..., if the microwave runs but is not heating, it could be one of many components. make sure the “timer” function was not inadvertently used. check to ensure the door is closed firmly. close it firmly, but do not slam..
